Alfa Romeo – More Than Just a Car
Alfa Romeo is not a car manufacturer in the traditional sense. Those who drive an Alfa don’t choose rationality, but passion. And that’s been the case since 1910.
Founded in Milan as Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, the company was soon shaped by one name: Nicola Romeo, an engineer who took over in 1915, giving the brand its iconic “Romeo” name. Already in the 1920s, it was clear: Alfa doesn’t build cars to sell them – it builds them to win. On the racetrack, in Le Mans, and especially in Formula 1, where a certain Enzo Ferrari began his career – as a race driver for Alfa Romeo.
Design? Always Italian. Engineering? Often brilliant, sometimes fragile. The Alfas of the 60s and 70s – Giulia, Spider, Montreal – have become icons. And anyone who has ever heard the metallic growl of a Busso V6 knows: emotion can’t be measured in horsepower.
But it wasn’t always glory: in the 80s, Alfa struggled with quality, image, and the Fiat takeover. The myth faded – almost. But not completely.
Since 2015, Alfa is making a comeback. First with the Giulia Quadrifoglio, a beast with Ferrari DNA. Then with the Stelvio SUV, which makes hearts race despite its size. And now: Electrification? Yes – but with style.
