Sie verfügen über eine Iridiumlegierung-Spitze an der Mittelelektrode. Diese wird in einem speziellen Verfahren mit Hilfe eines Lasers angeschweißt. Das Edelmetall Iridium ist eines der härtesten Metalle der Welt. Es schmilzt erst ab 2450 °C und ist sehr resistent gegen Funkenerosion. Durch seine Verwendung wird die Lebensdauer gegenüber Standardzündkerzen im Schnitt verdoppelt. Zudem erlaubt das Edelmetall, die Mittelelektrode mit 0,6 mm Stärke wesentlich dünner auszuführen.
